- What are .dat files in data folder?
They are the JSTARS "core". They are three files: jstarsglobal.dat - it contains about 102800 items of global aircrafts (civilian, military etc...), with hex code, registration, icao aircraft type, owner (from 1.1.2 version supported) jstarsmil.dat - it contains about 3470 items inherit military/governative aircrafts, with hex code, registration, type of aircraft (ICAO or customized format), owner (Air Force name for example) jstarscustom.dat - it can contain a custom aircraft list, if you wanna extract/log only determinated aircrafts - Can I edit these files? Yes, you can edit them if you wanna keep updated your JSTARS and logger capability. Because it is impossible to get all hex/registration codes of all aircrafts of the world, the best way to keep updated it, is to add eventual new item in these files. Monthly we try to put online an updated dat files set. From version 1.1.2 finally you can manage your dat files by "JSTARS DAT MANAGER" (without any text-editor programs). - How can I customize jstarscustom.dat? From version 1.1.2, using JSTARS Dat Manager is very easy to add, modify, cancel your traffic item! For JSTARS previous versions: Suppose you are interested to log this aircraft: KC-135 USAF serial 62-3566 having HEX serial: AE04D0 You have to edit jstarscustom.dat file and to add following row inherit this plane, in this format: AE04D0|62-3566|K35E||| important to write it as it is above, for a perfect working. Inside file "jstarsglobal.dat" you will find about 97000 type of aircrafts, where you can copy-past your interested items. Save file, you can restart JSTARS or you can use Reload feature in Traffic menu, pointing to "Custom". - JSTARS is connected to BaseStation, traffic is detected but it seems it's not logging nor sending email, why? Maybe because your JSTARS is running with FILTER mode. It means it will be sent a notification email after some minutes (it depends how many minutes you set in Logger Configuration). If you switch off FILTER, JSTARS will log on disk and send an email in real time for each new traffic detected (if you set 1 item per each email). If you switch on FILTER, JSTARS will wait some minutes before to log and send, to avoid to log and send you double items (one with callsign, one without callsign (limitation of BaseStation protocol)). Disconneting from BaseStation, JSTARS will send also a queue email/log, to avoid to loose eventual items in queue/elaboration. - I get a message saying “Problem occurs during email processing” when I tried to register on the help menu That problem usually occurs when there isn't a right settings of SMTP datas (server, username, password, email enabled to pass with your SMTP...). Please check again all information. (Menu Settings->General). |
